{"id":1875,"date":"2020-11-01T19:24:27","date_gmt":"2020-11-01T19:24:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stqw.org\/wordpress\/?p=1875"},"modified":"2020-11-01T19:24:27","modified_gmt":"2020-11-01T19:24:27","slug":"kensington-and-chelsea-council-starts-on-a-new-local-plan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stqw.org\/wordpress\/2020\/11\/01\/kensington-and-chelsea-council-starts-on-a-new-local-plan\/","title":{"rendered":"Kensington and Chelsea Council starts on a new Local Plan"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Council has been carrying out an initial consultation on a new Local Plan for the Borough.\u00a0 It was only last year that the current 2019 Local Plan was formally adopted, but the Planning Inspector involved was willing to endorse this version only if the Council committed to make an early start on a new Plan.\u00a0 This was because RBKC changed its plans for delivering new housing and following the Grenfell fire dropped a series of half completed plans for \u2018estate renewal\u2019 of the Silchester Estate and others..<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Starting on a new Local Plan is made more complicated by the fact that the Government published proposals in August, for a radical rethink of the English planning system.\u00a0 See our earlier post.  There has been significant push back to this White Paper <em>The Future of Planning<\/em> from local councils of all political persuasions. For London, the idea that all land can be \u2018zoned\u2019 in Local Plans and subsequent stages of planning permission simplified and streamlined is viewed with scepticism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is early days yet to know how far these new proposals will pursued by a Government with many other problems on its plate.\u00a0 Meanwhile the RBKC consultation on changes that it should introduce in its own Local Plan is open until November 10<sup>th<\/sup>.\u00a0 See the <a href=\"https:\/\/planningconsult.rbkc.gov.uk\/consult.ti\/NLPR_Issues\/consultationHome\">New Local Plan section of the RBKC website.<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The StQW\/SHRA management committee has put together a draft response, to send into the Council.  We think that the &#8216;Issues&#8217; document published by the Council is clear and helpful.  It includes a series of questions and we have responded to these with our views.
