Developers Rathplace have appealed the decision of the RBKC Planning Applications Committee to refuse their application to redevelop the existing light industrial building at Unit 9 Latimer Road.
As with previous applications at Units 9 and 10, local residents (and the StQW Forum) submitted objections to this application. We argued that at five storeys and nearly 18m, the building was one storey too high. The proposed design of the building has not proved popular, as compared with the single example to date of a successful redevelopment at Unit 1.

The Planning Inspectorate will now be making a decision on the appeal, a process which can take several months.
The StQW Forum has worked with the Latimer and Eynham Preservation Group on a detailed representation to the Inspectorate, and this was submitted earlier this week. A copy can be read or downloaded below.
The deadline for representations or comments on the appeal is July 30th. To make a representation you need to register and use the Inspectorate’s casework portal at Planning Inspectorate – GOV.UK. The Inspectorate’s reference for the appeal is APP/K5600/W/25/3367853.
The Council will be responding to the appeal, with justification for it refusal decision. The case statement from RBKC has yet to be published. Those documents which are available to date are on the Council’s online planning system under reference PP/24/05920.
These include the Appellant’s case statement and the officer report to the Planning Applications Committee on May 1st which had recommended. approval. Several residents spoke at the meeting as objectors, leading to a majority vote to refuse by three councillors to two.
